Todd & Blair [2012, Part 1]

[Blair pulls away after Todd kisses her on New Year's Eve]
Todd: What?
Blair: It's really cold out here.
Todd: It's -- it's, uh, it's -- it's warm -- it's warm in here. (gesturing to cabana)
Blair: Todd.
Todd: It's warm in here. Come on in.

Todd: Tell me what's on your mind. What's going on?
Blair: It's all just too soon for me.
Todd: Uh, didn't we just usher in the new year by burning up all the bad stuff that had happened to us in the last little while?
Blair: Come on, five minutes ago, all right? Uh, you know, give the girl some time here.

Todd: Why don't we both just let everything to do with Tomas go, okay? Just for tonight.
Blair: I let go of Tomas tonight.
Todd: Right. I -- I thought that we did all that burning stuff so that we could start over together, right? All the mistakes, they're -- they're -- they're literally blowing in the wind, okay? This is our year. This new year is for our year.
Blair: God, I wish it were that simple.
Todd: You don't think it's that simple?
Blair: No. Do you? Really? Really, Todd?

Todd: When I first came back here to Llanview, right, when I fought my way here to be with you, I was watching you.
Blair: Stalking me.
Todd: I was stalking you from those bushes right outside, okay? And I saw you -- for the first time in eight years. And do you know how difficult it was to not just run to you, to -- touch you -- to tell you how much I had been thinking of you, how much I had hoped to see you again?
Blair: Todd...
Todd: We belong together. You know that we belong together.

Todd: It's not about Tomas, is it? If Tomas is not what's keeping you from being with me, then what is it?
Blair: It's you.
Todd: I'm what's keeping you from being with me? What did I do? What did I do this time?
Blair: (chuckling) It's not just this time, Todd. Come on. We've been through years and years of ups and downs, back and forths, marriages, divorces.
Todd: That's life. Not so bad.
Blair: The ups, they were, uh -- amazing. The downs, they -- oh, my God. Sometimes, I loved you so much that I couldn't even see straight. Then you would go, and you would -- you'd so something, and you'd screw it up. I mean, something that was so terrible that, you know, most people don't even think about things like that. But you'd hide it. Truth would come out. Destroy us.
Todd: Yep. I did that to you more than once.
Blair: How many times did I trust you, completely give you my heart and my soul, only to have you just stomp on that trust, rip my heart out, and tear that soul into little bits? I can't do that. I can't do that again, Todd. I can't.
Todd: Well, I feel like it's different this time. I feel like I'm different. I feel like I'm -- I'm changed.
Blair: How many times did you say that to me?
Todd: It's different this time because the promises that I've made, I have made to myself. I made a lot of promises to myself in that hell hole, and I swear, I will keep every one of them.
Blair: Can you guarantee me that? Hmm? Can you really stand right here, look me in the eye, and promise me that you won't let me fall for you again only to have you hurt me, lie to me...betray me, tear me apart? Can you promise me that?
Todd: Absolutely not. Why the hell would I do that?

Blair: You can't promise that you're not gonna hurt me? Okay, Todd. What -- what are you not telling me here?
Todd: Well --
Blair: No. No "well." What -- what is it? What is gonna come back to haunt me and bite me on my backside that you've done?
Todd: It's nothing. Blair...
Blair: What?
Todd: Come on. Who -- who -- who in their right mind would make a promise like that?
Blair: Well...
Todd: Truly? Can you make a promise like that? Can you guarantee me that you are never again going to hurt my feelings?
Blair: No. No, I can't.
Todd: Right. I can promise you I love you. I can promise you that I love our children. I can promise you that I will take care of you. I can promise you that I will look after our family. Isn't that enough? That's really the question, isn't it? Can that be enough? Because I already know that you want to be together with me again. You tell me you don't feel exactly the same way.
Blair: Of course I do. Todd, I want to love you. I want to just throw away every little bit of doubt, and I want to jump right in.
Todd: That sounds great. Why don't you do that?
Blair: I can't. But --
Todd: Hmm?
Blair: I'm not saying that -- that I won't. All right? I just -- I can't do it tonight. But I do promise you -- that I will someday. Okay? Is that enough for you?
Todd: Yeah, that's enough.
Blair: We have so much -- so much to look forward to.
Todd: Just not tonight.
Blair: Mnh-mnh. Because you -- have to go.

[Starr is surprised to see T&B together]
Starr: What are you two, uh, what are you doing up? How was your new year's eve?
Todd: It was, uh --
Blair: Um, cathartic.
Todd: Cathartic.
Blair: Yeah.
Starr: Good cathartic?
Todd: I'd like to think so.
Blair: Me too.

[T&B are surprised when Hope calls out for her daddy]
Blair: "Daddy"? Uh, Starr, what in the world is she talking about?
Starr: You know what? She, uh, woke up because she had a dream about Cole. It must have been because I was showing her pictures before she went to bed. You know how I used to dream about Dad when I missed him.
Todd: Well, maybe you should get her a magic frog that she can talk to. Huh? (to Hope) Would you like that? Yeah? Should I get you a magic frog?

[Blair is surprised to learn Todd's nickname for Hope]
Blair: Peanut?
Todd: Yeah, Peanut.
Blair: (laughing) Really?
Todd: Yeah, she looks like a little peanut. You don't think so? I was gonna call her "Shorty Shorty," but Starr said that was stupid.
Blair: Redundant.
Todd: Hope's a dead ringer for Starr at that age, don't you think?
Blair: Kind of. Sort of.
Todd: She's gonna ask for a reptile any day now.
Blair: (chuckling) If we're lucky.

[T&B have a close moment after putting Hope to bed]
Todd: I could be here all the time, you know. What do you say?
Blair: You know what I said.
Todd: I think you said yes. Is that what you said?
Blair: I didn't say no. I just -- need some time.
Todd: It's been like an hour.
Blair: (laughing) Would you go home?
Todd: I don't want to go home.
Blair: You know what? You're gonna have to go someplace, because you cannot sleep here -- tonight. Okay?
[Todd turns to go out the door]
Blair: Hey. You -- you forgetting something?
[Todd turns back, walks over to Blair, bends down, and kisses her neck]

[Todd is forced to keep an eye on crazy Hannay before the cops arrive]
Hannah: Okay, so your dead mother -- how is she taunting you? I mean, aside from the obvious.
Todd: Oh, aside from the obvious. That's good. I like that. Thank you. Yeah, well, mostly, she reminds me that sooner or later, I'm bound to lose everything that I've worked so hard to get -- Blair, the kids, all of it. I'll screw it all up and lose it all over again.
Hannah: And remind me again why you're listening to your dead mother?
Todd: She's hard to ignore. And, actually, she has a point. I mean, if Blair had found out what I'd done...

Police Officer: Hello? Hello? Someone called the police?
Todd: Yeah, that was my wife -- oh, my -- my ex-wife.

[Luna, Gabrielle and Megan watch Starr and Cole from heaven]
Luna: She's a good girl -- Starr -- in spite of who her parents are. What Todd did to Marty Saybrooke was unforgivable. And as for Blair? I'm not sure I can forgive her, either. She tried to steal my Max.

[Tea, like everyone in Llanview except T&B and Starr, believes that Cole is dead]
Tea: So, are you making all the arrangements for Cole?
Blair: No, actually, Todd is. But I'm here for Todd because last night, he lost his phone, of course, and I'm sure he dropped in the E.R.
Tea: So, you're running errands for Todd?
Blair: Well, it's the least I can do, Tea. He's been so great through all this. I don't know what Starr would have done if he hadn't been here, and he's completely held me together.

Blair: What is going on? What's your problem with Todd lately?
Tea: Nothing. Nothing.
Blair: Well, just so you know, he has been really, really great. He's been a great father, and he's been super in a time of crisis.

Blair: I hope what I'm about to tell you is not gonna make things weird between us, but I think you should know.
Tea: What?
Blair: Before all hell broke loose New Year's Eve, Todd and I -- we're getting closer. He wants me back, and I haven't given him an answer yet, but --
Tea: What about Tomas?
Blair: I know he's your brother and I know you probably still love him, but he murdered your husband. I don't understand how you could want anything to do with him.

[Todd interrupts Blair and Tea's conversation]
Todd: Blair? Did you find my phone?
Blair: No, I didn't, but Tea's about to tell me something really important.
Todd: Well, that can wait, right?
Blair: I don't know. I don't think so. Why don't you give us a few minutes, please?
Todd: It's just you're really good at finding things.
Blair: Thank you.

Blair: (about Tea) I've been telling her how great you are, how you were there for everything and fixed everything, everyone.
Todd: You didn't tell her about Cole, did you?
Blair: No. Of course not. I just told her how Starr and I couldn't have done all this without you. She heard me.

Blair: Listen, Eli was a bad, bad man. Cole killed him. He has to serve his time.
Starr: Why? Dad killed someone, and he's still walking around.
Blair: (to Todd) Are you okay?
Todd: My daughter just called me a murderer.
Starr: No, I didn't. I said that you killed someone. It's different. You should understand, Dad. You thought that your mother had blown up everyone that you cared about, so you shot her. The exact same thing happened with Cole. He thought that Eli set off an explosion that killed Hope and me, so he shot Eli.
Todd: (to Blair) Is that true?
Blair: Yeah. Pretty much.

Blair: What you did last night for Cole -- it blew me away.
Todd: The kid took a bullet for Starr. It's the least I could do.
Blair: It was above and beyond, Todd.
Todd: There's nothing I wouldn't do for our daughter. What?
Blair: So this is how it's gonna be? From now on out, every day, you're just gonna step up and be a better man.
Todd: I'm trying.
Blair: And I can see that.
Todd: Sometimes I think I'll spend the rest of my life trying to make up for all the harm I've done in this world.

[Todd calls Baker]
Todd: It's McBain and my ex-wife, Tea. They're on to me.
Baker: What do they know?
Todd: I don't know. Maybe nothing. Maybe everything.
Baker: You can't take any chances. I'll have Delgado moved today.
Todd: Yeah, that's probably for the best. I'm not gonna lose everything, not after I've worked so hard to get it all back.

[Starr has announced her plan to leave Llanview for Los Angeles]
Starr: Leaving all of you is going to be the hardest thing that I have ever had to do, and I've done very hard things.
Addie: You certainly have.
Starr: But you guys -- I mean, you've always been there -- fighting my battles and fixing my mistakes, and I've relied on you all for too long, and I need to rely on myself.
Blair: (to Todd) Okay, well, you know what? I hate to admit this, but, um, Starr's right. (voice breaking) She's not our baby anymore.
Todd: Speak for yourself.

[The Mannings have just watched the finale of Fraterity Row]
Todd: I liked it.
Blair: Good.
Todd: I did. I especially liked the part where Moon stayed with her family instead of chasing after Eternity.
Starr: Nice try.

[Blair finds Todd crying alone after Starr has left town]
Todd: I, uh -- I figured you'd want to be alone, so I sent everybody home. Okay? I'll see you later.
Blair: No. Todd. Will you stay?
Todd: This sucks.
Blair: Something awful.
Todd: Yeah. I don't know who these parents are who rent out their kids' rooms and have parties as soon as they leave.
Blair: You know, I thought maybe it wasn't gonna happen. I thought maybe you'd stop her from going.
Todd: I thought of half a dozen things I could do to make her stay.
Blair: Yeah? Why didn't you trot them out, huh?
Todd: Because it's not about me. It has nothing to do with what I want. She's right. This is her time. It just sucks. What? I know. My nose is running.
Blair: No. This is what I've been waiting for.
Todd: You've been waiting for me to have boogers?
Blair: (chuckling) No. Proof. Proof of the new man that you say that you are.
Todd: Now what, Blair?
Blair: Well, now there's nothing holding me back.

Blair: (to Todd) If you want me...I'm yours.

Allison: (narrating the episode) And let's not forget Victoria's brother, Todd. His past hurts everyone he cares about, including his true love, Blair...

[T&B are in the bedroom kissing and Blair is surprised by how eager Todd is]
Blair: Come on. What's your hurry? I'm not going anywhere.

[Tomas is upset that no one told Blair the truth about Todd]
Tea: We figured that if Todd knew Blair was on to him, he would leave town.
Tomas: Why? Because Blair can't keep a secret?
Tea: She's been known to talk.
Tomas: And you don't, pajarito?
Tea: No, I don't talk. I do keep secrets. And besides, since you've been gone, uh...
Tomas: What?
Tea: Todd and Blair have gotten closer. We couldn't risk telling Blair, and she might tell --

[T&B are making out on the bed before Todd pulls away]
Blair: Why -- why are you stopping?
Todd: I can't do this.
Blair: Isn't this what you -- you wanted, to -- to trust each other, show each other what we meant to each other?
Todd: More than anything.
Blair: Well, then what's wrong? Why are you pushing me away?
Todd: You're right. I am pushing you away. (changing the subject) Who chooses curtains like this? They're horrible. What is this?
Blair: Todd...hey. Please just tell me.
Todd: I was on my way to Ireland, and you showed up at the airport to try and stop me. Do you remember that?
Blair: Really? You're asking me that like I could forget that?
Todd: You said you finally had everything that you wanted. And yet, the problem with having everything that you want...
Blair: Is that you could lose everything.
Todd: The whole time I was away from you, all I wanted -- all I needed was to get back to you, to get back to our children. And here I am. Here I am.
Blair: You are not going to lose me.
Todd: Yeah, that's what I told you. I said just that, right before somebody shot me in the back and stuck me in the back of a car.
Blair: And nothing was ever the same. Come on, Todd. Didn't we both just say there are no guarantees?
Todd: It would be great if there were guarantees. Wouldn't it just be great? It'll make everything just so much easier.
Blair: Oh, yeah. Real -- yeah. 'Cause then you -- you wouldn't trust people. And if you didn't trust people, then you wouldn't get hurt.
Todd: People are unreliable. People do stupid things.
Blair: Not everybody does.
Todd: Blair, I do stupid things every day.
Blair: Well, then, you need to know, right here, right now -- there is nobody in the world that I trust more than you. So, if you know a reason why -- why we shouldn't do this, please tell me.

[Blair tries to reassure Todd before they make love]
Blair: I know that you're scared. So am I. But we don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow. But I think it's worth -- worth finding out.

[T&B are naked in bed together after making love]
Todd: You do something for me?
Blair: Again?
Todd: Not that. Well, maybe that. But...you sing to me.
Blair: You want that song, that sappy Nat King Cole song that --
Todd: Not sappy.
Blair: Yes, it is.
Todd: You have a pretty voice.
Todd: What?
Blair: Are you still afraid you're gonna lose me?
Todd: It's always been you and me, Blair. I love you.
Blair: I love you, too.

[T&B still in bed after the second round of sex]
Blair: So, what, what you gonna do for an encore?
Todd: I guess I'm gonna have to sing you a song.
Blair: Okay.
Todd: I don't know any songs.
Blair: Think of one.

[John storms into T&B's bedroom]
John: LPD. Freeze.
Blair: What the hell?
John: Sorry. We knocked -- repeatedly.
