"Todd"/Victor & Rex [2003-2011]

Rex: I might have a scoop for you.
"Todd"/Victor: You've got my attention.
Rex: But it doesn't come cheap.
"Todd"/Victor: Why not? The source is.

Rex: I saw this dude and a hooker go into the Palace. His name is William Dawes --
"Todd"/Victor: Oh, yeah, I know.
Rex: A major player in --
"Todd"/Victor: I don't really care. Neither does anyone else.

"Todd"/Victor: But you've got no proof that Asa and Kevin were in on it.
Rex: What, you think that I'm stupid enough to make up something like this about the Buchanans?
"Todd"/Victor: Yeah, I do.

[Todd visits Ultraviolet]
Rex: So, I haven't -- I haven't seen you in here before. I own the place. What do you think?
"Todd"/Victor: Mm-hmm.
Rex: A man can get whatever he wants in here -- music, booze, women. I'd be more than happy to hook you up to elevate your mood.
"Todd"/Victor: Listen, junior, what I'm looking for, you can't give me. So get out of my face.

["Todd"/Victor is drowning his sorrows at Ultraviolet after Blair turned down his attempt at a reunion]
Rex: Um, not that I really care, but you've been sitting here drinking alone all night?
"Todd"/Victor: Get lost.
Rex: It's my place.
"Todd"/Victor: No, it's my place tonight. Get out of my face before I take my money back.
Rex: She's not worth it, man.
"Todd"/Victor: Shut up! Walk away.

[Rex hovers around a dazed looking Viki]
Rex: Oh, God -- you're not going to flat line here, because Kevin will kick my ass!
Viki: Oh, no, no, no. I'm just -- I'm really, really worried about Natalie.
"Todd"/Victor: (to Rex) Hey. Back off, slick. I know about your thing for older women.

[Rex continues to hover as Viki and Todd talk]
Viki: What is going on?
"Todd"/Victor: I'm sorry, I'm not going to discuss family business in front of the village idiot.

[Larry, a cop at the jail, escorts Rex in to see Todd in his cell]
Rex: Thanks, Larry. Hey, you've been working out. Looking good.
Larry: Five minutes.
"Todd"/Victor: (to Rex) Oh, you didn't ask him about his wife and kids.
Rex: Aw, was I too polite for you? Because clearly you have the upper hand in this situation.
"Todd"/Victor: I know, you're just -- you're so wonderful with those cops. You get along so well. I think that I should adopt that when I get out of here.
Rex: I think "if" is the operative word here, dude.

"Todd"/Victor: You don't know the whole story.
Rex: Ah, is this where Todd Manning tells the truth this time? But not like the other times where Todd Manning really told the truth.

Rex: This may come as a complete surprise to you, but I don't want your cash. I don't want anything to do with you.
"Todd"/Victor: No, no, don't get moral on me.

Rex: Um, you're saying you wanted to kill Margaret, you planned it?
"Todd"/Victor: Yeah.
Rex: So I was up all night busting my butt to prove your innocence when your intention was to commit first-degree murder, to kill an innocent baby?
"Todd"/Victor: That's right.
Rex: Go to hell, Manning.

"Todd"/Victor: (to Rex about Margaret) I didn't strangle her. What, do you think I should be punished for something I merely thought? Do you think I should be executed for just wanting to kill someone and not doing it? You decide.

Bo: Balsom, look, you're finally kind of pulling your life together. Why you want to throw in with a guy like Todd Manning?
Rex: You got to make a buck somehow.

Evangeline: I'm going through Todd's statement, seeing if I missed anything.
Rex: Or if he ever said the same thing twice.

Rex: (to Evangeline) As slimy as he is, as much as he lies, I don't think that Todd did this.

"Todd"/Victor: (about Denton) You better make him admit that I never confessed.
Rex: I'll do my best, boss.
"Todd"/Victor: Don't you call me that.

Rex: You see, you have a problem here. Elaborate cover-ups kind of imply there's something to cover-up.
"Todd"/Victor: No, my problem is I'm stuck in this cell -- aah -- with idiots like you.
Rex: You see, that's what makes me think you're innocent. A guilty man would at least cover up what a flaming jerk he is.

"Todd"/Victor: I have a real problem being locked up like this, I really do. It makes me -- you know, it makes me frustrated, and I shouldn't take it out on the few people who are trying to help me.
Rex: I think I just got an apology from Todd Manning. Alert the media.

"Todd"/Victor: Rex, uh, you got to -- you got to believe me. I don't want you to give up on me, Rex. I didn't do it.

"Todd"/Victor: Do you want to hear something weird? I never thought -- I never thought until now that I would lose everything. I never believed it, but I believe now.
Rex: Well, I won't give up, but you can't, either.

[Adriana wonders why Rex thinks "Todd"/Victor is innocent of killing Margaret]
Rex: The thing is, a guy like Todd, everybody's gunning for him. What he did in the past makes him a killer today.
Adriana: You make him sound like a victim.
Rex: I think he deserves someone trying to help him, someone who knows what they're doing.

["Todd"/Victor has a black eye when Rex comes to visit him]
Rex: You slip in the shower?
"Todd"/Victor: I can take care of myself.
Rex: Yeah, looks like you're doing a hell of a job.

Rex: Look, with all due respect, it is going to take a ton of proving to overturn the conviction.
"Todd"/Victor: I don't care about the conviction, I care about Blair. I want to prove it to her.
Rex: That's all well and good, but she is not the one who's going to let you walk out that front gate.
"Todd"/Victor: Well, I don't care about walking out the front gate if she's not there waiting for me.
Rex: Do they have mirrors in here? If they do, you should look into one because you are not going to make it if you don't get sprung. And being dead is not going to help your relationship with Blair.

Adriana: So you lied to me to protect Todd? An escaped killer that everyone we know is out looking for him? They have armed guards watching Blair and the kids!
Rex: Todd would never hurt them.

Rex: (to Adriana) How many man have been sentenced to death row for something they didn't commit? They're being exonerated all the time. And those are just the ones who didn't get executed. Now, I care what you think, Adriana. Ok? But I am not going to let an innocent man get executed for something he didn't do, if I can help stop it.

Rex: (to Adriana) I admit, I'm sorry for a lot of the things that I have done, but helping Todd is not one of them.

Rex: It never occurs to you that just because the whole world is against somebody, he might be the guy telling the truth?
Adriana: Are you talking about yourself or Todd? Because at the rate you're going, you're going to be sharing a cell with him pretty soon.

"Todd"/Victor: Balsom --
Rex: Uh-huh.
"Todd"/Victor: You aided and abetted like a pro.
Rex: Happy to oblige.

"Todd"/Victor: Hey, it's Todd. Meet me at The Palace.
Rex: I'm kind of in the middle of something here. Is it important?
"Todd"/Victor: Uh -- actually, no. I just -- feeling kind of lonely and wanted someone to talk to. Yes, it's important, idiot. Get down here now.

"Todd"/Victor: (to Rex) If Bo wants you to do something for him, he can pay you. I'm paying you now. Your first priority in life is to me, always, you got that?

[Todd talks to Rex after John's funeral]
"Todd"/Victor: Oh. How was it?
Rex: It was nice.
"Todd"/Victor: "It was nice"? A nice funeral. I'm sure that's what John would've wanted -- thank you -- a "nice" funeral. I think he'd probably rather be sitting in the front row shooting spitballs at the casket.

"Todd"/Victor: Please find my son, Rex. Please?
Rex: There's a lot of people I'd rather work for than you.
[Todd gives Rex some money, and Rex is shocked at the amount]
Rex: There's no one in this world I'd rather work for than Todd Manning.

"Todd"/Victor: (to Rex) You know, I've done a lot of wrong in my life. A lot more than I've done right. But somehow, being a parent is something I got right, and I think I can be a good parent to this kid. And he's out there somewhere, so he needs to be saved.

Rex: I've been thinking.
"Todd"/Victor: That's not what I pay you for.

Rex: Adriana and I are going to the bachelor parties of Antonio and Jessica.
"Todd"/Victor: Where are these parties?
Rex: The girls are at Capricorn and the guys are out at Nash Brennan's vineyard.
"Todd"/Victor: All right, got it.
Rex: You aren't thinking of going, are you?
"Todd"/Victor: Me? I wasn't invited.
Rex: That's not an answer.
"Todd"/Victor: I'll talk to you tomorrow.
[Todd hangs up the phone]
Rex: (worried, to Adriana) I think maybe I just did a bad thing.

"Todd"/Victor: If you have something, you call me, good or bad. All right? If you have to travel, I'll take care of it, whatever it takes.
Rex: Well, I wish I knew that when we cut our deal. I hear Tahiti's nice this time of year.
"Todd"/Victor: Ha-ha!

[Rex learns that Michael and Marcie's adopted son Tommy is really "Todd"/Victor's missing child]
Rex: Look, this'll kill Marcie. Michael, too. And Todd --
Adriana: What do you think he'll do?
Rex: Well, he sure as hell won't let it be. I mean, can you picture him saying, "oh, you know, my kid has a charming mom and dad who love him. Damn if I'll get in the way of that"?
Adriana: No, I can't.
Rex: He'll want him back to raise him himself. I'll bet my life on that. And who can blame him? I mean, who the hell can blame him?

"Todd"/Victor: Margaret's kid might be all I've got at this point! And I'm going to find him!
Rex: Why? So you can add him to your collection? Stake your claim?

Adriana: What happened?
Rex: Todd Manning is a psycho. That's what happened. Everything people say about him is dead-on.

[Rex has a nightmare about "Todd"/Victor raising his son and bringing him by Rex's loft for a visit]
Rex: Todd. What are you doing here?
"Todd"/Victor: Todd II's birthday.
Rex: I know.
"Todd"/Victor: And he wanted to come by and thank you. Thank you for bringing him back to me.
Rex: You're welcome, Todd -- I mean, Todd --
Todd II: It's Todd II, you idiot.
[The boy kicks Rex]
Rex: Ow! Agh! You little --
"Todd"/Victor: Well, Todd II, what did I tell you about kicking people? And dogs and hamsters?

Rex: Tommy is staying with Michael and Marcie.
Adriana: So you're not going to tell Todd the truth?
Rex: Not if he held me down and pulled out my fingernails.
Adriana: What made you decide?
Rex: A bunch of things. Todd just wants to possess his kid. But Michael and Marcie genuinely love him.

Rex: I wouldn't wish Todd on any kid. It'd be like cursing them for life.
Adriana: What about Starr and Jack?
Rex: My point exactly. Those kids are going to need mucho therapy.

[Spencer insists that Todd's son is gone for good and Rex shouldn't bother looking for him]
Rex: Todd's pretty OCD. On this -- on everything, really, at least what's important to him. He doesn't give up till he gets what he wants. Look at Blair.

[Todd learns that Rex is a suspect in the murder of Spencer Truman]
"Todd"/Victor: (to Adriana) So they really think he might've done it, huh? Well, you tell him that if he did, he's in for a big bonus. And tell him not to worry about the lawyer -- it's on me.

Blair: Okay, Rex, I'm going to ask you again -- what are you doing here?
Rex: Look, I came here to help Todd.
Blair: Oh, none of this makes any sense.
"Todd"/Victor: Not making sense is Rex's forte.

["Todd"/Victor has finally learned that Rex was keeping the truth about his son from him]
"Todd"/Victor: (to Rex) You had half the town lying to me. And I missed months with my son because you wanted to play God. Game over, my friend.

Rex: You've got your son; you ruined Marcie's life -- isn't that enough?
"Todd"/Victor: No, Marcie ruined her own life, and you helped her. You and your girlfriend helped Marcie hide my son from me. But you wouldn't know what that's like, would you? You never had kids -- you wouldn't know what it's like to have somebody keep your kid from you. My God. God help us if you procreate -- ha! If you do, though, I hope somebody kidnaps your kid.

Adriana: To hell with Todd. He's just a miserable, depressing person who gets off on making other people miserable.
Rex: That about sums it up.

[Seeing Gigi with Schuyler]
"Todd"/Victor: I didn't think it was possible to trade down from Rex.

Roxy: (about Schuyler) I'm his mother.
"Todd"/Victor: Bartender, I think you better cut this chick off, man. She's hallucinating. Your son is named Rex Balsom. He's also a towhead, but he's the other irritating one.

"Todd"/Victor: (calling Rex) Where are you, Balsom? I'm not paying you to even out your spray tan.

"Todd"/Victor: Here's a thought. How about you dust off your detective shield and pick up some dirt on this guy?
John: I'm a cop. I'm not a private investigator.
"Todd"/Victor: Oh, come on. This means I have to hire Rex Balsom again.

[Natalie and Rex discuss "Todd"/Victor's shooting]
Rex: Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
Natalie: Geez, Rex.
Rex: You want me to pretend I'm sorry?
Natalie: No, but you don't have to celebrate the fact that he's dead.
Rex: I'm not. But you have to admit that the world is a better place with Victor Lord, Jr. gone. Come on, I thought you hated the guy almost as much as I did.
Natalie: Hate is a strong word. We had our differences. Just do me a favor and please don't go around repeating that the world is better off in front of other people.
Rex: I'm sure there's other people who agree with me.
