Blair is Annoyed to Find Todd Talking to Starr

Starr is in her bedroom, putting on jewelry and showing off in the mirror. She raises a tiara up onto her head just as the door opens. It's Todd.

Todd: Psst!
Starr: Daddy!
Todd: Shh -- come here for a second.

Starr quickly walks over to Todd.

Starr: What is it?
Todd: Where's your mother?
Starr: She's downstairs with Max. Did you stop them from having a baby tonight?
Todd: Well, we'll talk about that later. Listen, I need something -- I need for you to do something for me.
Starr: What is it?
Todd: I need for you to keep your mother with you all night.
Starr: How?
Todd: Well, she's going to have to take care of your stomach-ache.
Starr: (confused) I don't have a stomach-ache.
Todd: Yeah, I know you don't have a stomach-ache, you just have to say that you have a stomach-ache.
Starr: Why?
Todd: Because I've had it. I've had enough. Now I'm going to get my revenge.

--end scene--

Starr: What kind of revenge? Is it the kind of revenge that Mommy's doing to Uncle Max?
Todd: No, it's much better than that.
Starr: (rubbing her hands together gleefully) Good!
Todd: See, but the thing is, a baby would screw the whole thing up, and you don't want a little baby brother or a little baby sister anyway, right? So tell your mom that you puked and that she's gotta get up here and take care of you.
Starr: Uh-uh, no way.

Starr heads over to the nearby jewelry box and starts putting on some earrings.

Todd: What do you mean, "No way"? Yes way!
Starr: I decided I want a baby brother or sister.
Todd: No, Starr, listen to me, if Max and Blair have a baby --
Starr: No!
Todd: What?
Starr: I don't want Mommy and Uncle Max to have a baby -- I want you and Mommy to have a baby!

--end scene--

Todd: Starr, your mother and I can't have a baby.
Starr: Why not?
Todd: Because...because.
Starr: Then I can't be your spy anymore, and I'm telling Mommy that you asked me to!

She stalks over to the other side of the room to continue preening in the mirror.

Todd: Well, I know whose kid you are.
Starr: Yours and Mommy's. Then why can't you have another one?

Todd looks at the jewelry box and picks up a diamond ring inside. He looks at it thoughtfully.

Todd: Starr, there's a bunch of stuff in this world that you just don't understand yet.
Starr: But you promised!
Todd: No, I didn't promise you -- the only thing I promised you is that I would make sure that Max and Blair didn't have a baby, that was it.
Starr: How is that supposed to get you and Mommy back together? Isn't that what we're trying to do, get you and Mommy back together?

Footsteps can be heard -- Blair has walked into the room just in time to hear what Starr is saying. Blair looks incredibly pissed off.

Blair: Todd!

Todd turns to look at Blair. Busted.

--end scene--

Blair: Now look what you've done, Todd! Now, just tell her the truth, please.
Todd: Okay. Starr, the truth is that there's a lot of things in this world that you're not going to understand until you get older.
Blair: I'm not kidding.
Todd: I'm not kidding either, that's the truth.
Blair: The truth is that we are not getting back together.
Todd: I never said that we were.
Blair: I want you to tell her that, I want her to hear you say it. Tell her, now.

Todd just glares and remains silent. Blair approaches Starr.

Blair: Starr, sweetie, you know I'm happily married to Max. And I love you, Daddy loves you, but that does not mean that we can be together, okay? (she turns to Todd) Now you tell her.
Todd: (to Starr) ...Your mother's married to Max, and -- whatever else she was saying.

Blair gives up on Todd and turns to face Starr.

Blair: Starr, it's getting late. Tell you what, brush your teeth, okay, and we'll get you in bed.
Starr: Okay. Good night, Daddy.

Starr leaves the room. Blair turns to Todd angrily.

Blair: If you keep filling her head with that stuff, I swear to you, you're going to be sorry. I will go to court, I will get an order, and I will make it so you will never see her again if it's the last thing that I do.

She goes to walk past him, but he steps in front of her to stop her from leaving.

Todd: You do that, and it will be the last thing you do. Not that you could do it in the first place.
Blair: Oh come on, dream on, I have so many grounds it's ridiculous. Not the least of which is you locking me in that gross storage room. (sudden realization) You know what, why don't I just skip the court, I'll go downstairs right now and have the police arrest you, because they're here in the house.

Blair tries to go out the door but Todd stops her.

Todd: Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute -- what are the police doing in the house?
Blair: They just arrested Asa for setting Will Rappaport up.

Todd finds this hilarious.

Todd: Oh, that -- that's poetic! Wow! 'Course, it's not good for you, is it? Max now has other things on his mind besides his wife.
Blair: (angry and hurt) You know, Todd, I don't know why I ever trusted you.
Todd: I don't know either.
Blair: You're up to something really big, aren't you? You are going to hurt Max and me, aren't you?

Todd looks at Blair but doesn't say anything. Then he walks over toward the door. Before he leaves, he turns back to face her.

Todd: Don't ever change, Blair.

He closes the door behind him and stays standing for a moment in the hallway. He puts his hand into his pocket and pulls out the diamond ring from Starr's jewelry box. He has a very determined look on his face.
