Dorian Warns Blair Away From Todd

When the scene returns, Blair has just told Dorian that she was just having a family discussion with Todd. Dorian's interest is piqued.

Dorian: What do you mean? What kind of family discussion could you be having with Todd Manning?
Blair: It's private, all right?

But Dorian is smart enough to pick up on Blair's strange behavior.

Dorian: Are you sure that there isn't something going on between you two?
Blair: (frustrated) Yes! He just, um, came over to ask me for a little advice, that's all.
Dorian: About what?
Blair: Dorian...
Dorian: Well, I mean, darling, you're not advising him on family issues, are you? That's hardly your forte!
Blair: Look, he had a problem -- a big problem -- and I happen to know a little bit about what he needed, and I was going to help him.
Dorian: And what was that?
Blair: Why is this any of your business?
Dorian: (smiling brightly) Humor me. It's New Year's.
Blair: All right, okay, he found out he was adopted.

Dorian can't hide her look of shock, which Blair misinterprets.

Blair: Look, and don't you even think of printing this in The Intruder, and I mean it!
Dorian: No, I wouldn't dream of it! Sweetheart, you have no idea, I'm just dying to sell that filthy rag!

Dorian pulls Blair down to sit next to her on the couch.

Dorian: So, what are you going to do, hm?
Blair: Do?
Dorian: Are you planning on helping Todd find his birth parents?

Blair looks at Dorian suspciously.

Blair: Todd's still in shock about everything, and right now I don't think he wants to know who his natural parents are.
Dorian: I hope you're not going to encourage him to go searching for them, my dear. Think about what kind of people must they be -- Todd Manning's natural parents! Assuming that they're alive, they're probably in prison. And poor Todd. He'd be devastated.
Blair: And since when did you start worrying about Todd Manning?
Dorian: I'm just making an observation, that's all. If they're alive and walking around loose, they may not be overjoyed to meet their long-lost son, considering Todd's recent track record.
Blair: Dorian, the guy's had a very rotton life. His mother writes and says that he has a little bit of inheiritance waiting out there for him somewhere to make his life a little easier.
Dorian: I see. Well, if there is an inheiritance, he's probably been cut out of the will.
Blair: Oh!
Dorian: After all, he is a convicted rapist, my dear. And how will he feel about you setting him up for yet another disappointment in life?
Blair: What does that mean?
Dorian: Oh, when he's angry, he's dangerous, darling. I wouldn't want to see him turn on you.

Blair has grown weary with this line of conversation.

Blair: Don't you have some place else to be tonight?
Dorian: Yes, as a matter of fact, I do! Max and Luna's "Make a Wish Come True" Party! Oh, of course, I don't suppose you'll be there.
Blair: (sourly) No.

Dorian looks at the "Make a Wish" card/invitation she's carrying with her -- the one that Max and Luna's guests will be filling out at the party.

Dorian: Well, do you know what I would write on this wish card if I were to fill it out right now? I would wish that you would not get mixed up with Todd Manning.

Blair grabs Dorian's coat and hands it to her.

Blair: Happy New Year, Dorian.
Dorian: (slipping into the coat) Yes. Well, I'm sorry I will not be seeing you at the party, my dear. But do not fret if you're not welcome at Luna's house. I'm sure there are lots of other things you can do to have fun tonight.

Blair does not look enthused.

Dorian: Oh, wipe that silly expression off your face. Give your aunt a hug.

The two women hug.

Dorian: Happy New Year.
Blair: Happy New Year.
Dorian: Ciao, bella.

Dorian leaves the apartment. Blair walks around for a bit, thinking about what Dorian has said.
