It's the middle of the night, and Skye, who has just been released from prison, has shown up at Blair's Palace suite to taunt her. The two women have been engaged in a stand-off for the last few minutes.

Skye: Won't be long before you and I switch places, and when that happens do you really think that psycho Todd's going to stick by you?
Blair: I'm warning you, Skye -- you get out of here before I call the cops.
Skye: Oh, I have John Syke's pager number, if you want that.
Blair: Get out!
Skye: You're going down, Blair. That's right. And I am going to enjoy every single minute of it. I'm going to get a big bag of popcorn, and I'm going to watch you experience all the pain and humiliation that you dumped on me. Except, see, you don't get a happy ending. No, you get to go to jail and be disgraced and lose your daughter. That's right -- I'm going to make your worst nightmare come true one of these days!

Both women are surprised by the voice of Todd, who has just come through the door and overheard what Skye said.

Todd: Maybe. But I'm going to make your worst nightmare come true right now.

Skye: You've already made my worst nightmare come true. There's nothing else you can do to me.

Todd shakes the copied Bible page in the air.

Todd: Not so sure about that.

They all hear Max's voice bellowing down the hall as he comes through the door.

Max: Blair, if you've done anything to --

Max looks at all of them gathered in the room.

Max: Skye.
Todd: Well, well! Gang's all here.

Blair: What do you want, Max?
Todd: Oh, who cares? It's just another person gets to hear my secret.
Skye: What secret could you have? Oh, wait, I know -- the one where you and Blair framed me. Well, you better get that one out before the buzzer goes off, 'cause it's coming out any day now.
Max: I'd like to hear that one, too.
Skye: Yeah, get in line.
Max: I want to talk to you. I went to the jail to see you.
Todd: You went to the jail to see the woman who shot you?
Max: Shut up, Manning.
Skye: You came to see me? What's the matter, Max? Feeling a little lonely?
Blair: Okay, everybody, out of my room right now!
Todd: Yeah! Come on -- you heard her.
Blair: You, too, Todd.
Todd: I was here first!
Skye: I was here first!
Todd: Was not!
Blair: I can talk to you in the morning, Todd.
Max: Todd can wait 'till the morning, but what I have to say can't -- at least not if you're still in a hurry to get a divorce.

Todd stops in his tracks when he hears this, and Blair looks at Max in surprise.

Skye: You used to be in a hurry to get a divorce so you could be with me, Max. What's your hurry these days?
Blair: Shut up, Skye.
Todd: Yeah, shut up, Skye. (to Max) You got some kind of papers? 'Cause she'll sign 'em.
Blair: I can speak for myself, Todd.
Todd: No, you can't. Sign them.
Blair: Did you agree on my terms, Max?
Max: I'll give you the details when we don't have an audience.
Skye: I'm out of here.

Skye heads for the door, and Max chases after her.

Max: Skye, hold on, hold on -- hold on! Listen, uh, please -- please just wait for me outside. I really do need to talk to you.

Skye huffs and goes to wait in the hall. Max goes back into the room and glares at Todd.

Todd: Don't look at me! I'm not leaving. I paid for this room.
Blair: You did not!
Todd: I didn't?
Blair: No!

Todd looks uncertainly at Max and then back at Blair.

Todd: Well, if you let me stay, I will.
Blair: I can handle this, Todd! Please!
Todd: I'll go get more ice.

Todd leaves the room and closes the door behind him.

Max: Just you and me.
Blair: What do you want?
Max: All the cards on the table. Our marriage is dead. You want out -- I get that. Well, I want out, too. I'm -- just so tired of all the fighting, and all the backstabbing, all the lies, and everything else. So, uh, just give me a figure, and I'll be out of your life.

Blair looks at Max in surprise.

Todd and Skye are waiting out in the hallway together, and Todd senses an opportunity to cause trouble.

Todd: So, how was jail?
Skye: (rolls her eyes)
Todd: Did you make friends with any of the rats? Probably the only friends you had seeing as the only person that came to visit you was Max.
Skye: Oh, shut up.
Todd: How about your mother?
Skye: My mother's dead.
Todd: So you don't hear from her much?
Skye: What do you care for anyway, Todd? Why are you bringing her up?
Todd: I'm just trying to figure out, you know, why you're such a loser. 'Cause psychiatrists -- they think that, you know, the whole thing condenses down to your relationship with your mother. Speaking of shrinks, you know who's a shrink? Rae Cummings. You know her?
Skye: That witch?
Todd: She the one who turned you into a frog?
Skye: Yeah, Todd, why don't you go pull some wings off some flies, huh? I'm really sick of your games.
Todd: (smiling with satisfaction) Just you wait.

Back inside Blair's suite, Max is writing a check for Blair.

Max: You still want a quick divorce, right? (he shows her the check) How's that?

Blair takes the check, looks at it, and then tears it in half.

Blair: Is this a joke, Max?
Max: Worth a try.

Max writes out another check and shows it to her.

Max: That better?

Blair takes the check and tears it, too.

Blair: Not even close.
Max: Fine. Name your price.
Blair: What?
Max: Tell me how much you want me to give you to put an end to this marriage.
Blair: I can't answer that.
Max: Why not? Don't you want to put an end to it?
Blair: You think I want you back?
Max: You're stalling.
Blair: Why would I do that, Max?
Max: Well, of course, it's just a guess on my part, but, uh, maybe because you don't really want to marry Todd.

Blair stares at Max defiantly.

Blair: I'm not stalling, Max!
Max: But you don't really want to marry Todd.
Blair: I can't wait to marry Todd!
Max: Then why are you waiting?
Blair: You don't know me, Max. You know, that's why we never worked -- because you never really knew me. Well, let me tell you something -- Todd knows me. He knows everything about me. He's the only person who can give me what I want, and I -- I can't wait to be rid of you! And the minute that ink dries on those divorce papers, I'm going to be Mrs. Todd Manning again.
Max: Heaven help you.

Max goes over to the door and flings it open to allow Todd and Skye back inside.

Max: One divorce -- no waiting.
Todd: (to Blair) Did you sign it?

Max is sitting down at the little desk now, where he writes something on a piece of paper.

Max: Need witnesses.
Todd: And that's me?

Todd puts on a show of acting impressed at being a witness, while Max keeps writing.

Max: (writing) "I, Max Buchanan, hereby give Blair Buchanan enough money to live the rest of her life in luxury. Max Buchanan."

Max gets up and addresses Blair.

Max: (handing her the pen) Go ahead. Sign it so you can marry Todd.

When the scene returns, Max is still holding the pen out to Blair while she glares at him. Todd and Skye wait expectantly.

Todd: Psst! Sign it! What are you waiting for, Blair?

Blair finally snatches the pen from Max and signs the piece of paper.

Blair: There. It's over. (with emphasis) It's over.

Max glares at Blair, while Skye looks uncertainly at him. Todd also watches Max, waiting to see what he'll do. Suddenly, Skye stalks out of the room, which shakes Max from his glaring.

Max: That's your copy. I think the ink is dry. Congratulations.

Max casts a quick look at Todd and then leaves the room.

Todd: Well, I thought he'd never leave. It's too late to call a wedding planner, you think?
Blair: (sighing) It's not that simple.
Todd: It's not?

Blair doesn't say anything.

Todd: Oh. Right.

Todd begins checking his pockets, looking for something until he finds a little ring box in one.

Todd: Hey, incoming.

Todd tosses a little ring box at Blair, who opens it to find a large engagement ring as Todd watches her.

Todd: Now it is.

Todd: That's the one you wanted, right?
Blair: It is. It's -- it's incredible. It's -- it's beautiful.
Todd: Good. You know, I know Andrew said that St. James was booked this weekend but, you know, maybe I can change his mind -- buy him a new cross or something.
Blair: (whispering) Go away.
Todd: What -- is this not about seeing the bride before the wedding, 'cause I always thought that was way, way stupid.
Blair: Would you just go, please?
Todd: Blair, you should be happy. Max divorced you. He gave you an allowance for like a gazillion dollars.

But Blair, still shaken by the taunting from Max, is on the verge of tears.

Blair: I know it's over. You got what you wanted.
Todd: I thought it's what you wanted. Blair, don't tick me off.
Blair: (crying now) I will if I want!

Todd reluctantly heads toward the door, casting a long look at Blair's back before he leaves.
