Todd Confronts Blair At The Melador Building

Blair is wandering around the unfinished Omega Building, which is where she's planning to set up the Melador offices. She's just come from visiting her cousin Cassie,
where she learned that Tina lied about her supposed "reunion" with Cord --
it turns out that Tina is married to David Vickers, Cord is still single,
and now Blair doesn't know what to do, especially now that she's already
set her scheme to snare Todd's millions in motion.
Blair: Almost mine...everything I ever wanted....
As Blair walks around the building, she flashes back to making love with Cord.

When the scene returns, Blair is still wandering around the building, lost in her thoughts.
Blair: (thinking to herself) It could have been perfect -- my talent, your strength. Cord and Blair -- the perfect team. No one could have stopped us.
Blair then flashes back to Cassie's warning from earlier -- that she should find out what's really going on with Cord before saying goodbye to him forever.
That settles it for Blair.
Blair: Maybe it's not over. Maybe there's still a chance!
Blair turns to leave, but she stops in shock when Todd comes through the door.
--end scene--
Todd: What's the matter, Blair? You look about as happy to see me as my parole officer used to be.
Blair: Todd! I'm -- I'm just surprised, that's all.
Todd: Didn't mean to scare you.
Blair: You didn't! You don't. I -- what are you doing back in Llanview? I thought you were staying in Key West.
Todd: Yeah, well, I got bored. Besides, I wanted to know how everything went with Cord, you know, getting the big news and all.
Blair looks down, avoiding his eyes.
Todd: Come on. Tell the guy you're pregnant and he doesn't even react?
Blair still doesn't give him an answer. Todd gets serious.
Todd: You lied, didn't you? Told Cord it was his kid -- didn't you?
--end scene--
Todd: Come on, Blair, tell me. Did you tell Cord that this was his baby or not?
Blair: Todd -- you don't have to worry about this, all right?
Todd: Who's worrying?
Blair: Well, here you are -- you came back from Key West. You didn't have to do that. You shouldn't have.
Todd: Yeah, well, here I am. So, come on. Tell me what happened.
Blair turns away.
Todd: What? You told him, right? What, did he get all puffed up and start blaming you or something? Come on, Blair. Tell me.
Blair: I -- I haven't told him.
Todd: What?
Blair: He's not in -- he's not in town. He, um, he went to Spain to find... (she trails off)
Todd: What? Come on, just say it.
Blair whirls around to face him.
Blair: To find Tina.
Todd: (shaking his head slightly) I don't believe this guy.
Blair: I am going to tell him when he comes back to town, okay?
Todd: Are you kidding me? Look, come on, Blair. This guy chases his airhead ex-wife all the way to Spain, and you're still thinking that you want to marry him? You're not thinking about this.
Blair: (exasperated) What am I supposed to do? Todd, I'm doing the best I can in this situation!
Todd: Well, this just proves that -- that everything that you were worried about was true.
Blair: Todd, the only thing that I am worried about here is to ensure a decent life for my child.
Todd: Yeah, right, so you tell the guy who's not the father that he is and, what, the rest of the future is supposed to come out like Snow White?
Blair: What should I do? You're not reconsidering, are you?
Todd: No, all I'm saying --
Blair: No, but Todd, this -- this is your baby. Now, if you are having second thoughts at all about this --
Todd: You know how I feel about this.
Blair: But, Todd, you're here! And you told me down in -- in Key West that you were clear about what you wanted to do with the child. Here you are. Todd...has anything changed?
Todd stares at Blair and says nothing.
--end scene--
Todd: So what makes you think that Cord is going to be the perfect father?
Blair: Well, he's done a pretty good job with his first two kids.
Todd looks away.
Blair: What? What is it? Spit it out.
Todd: All right, look, I love CJ and Sarah. Great kids. But they're part of the problem with Cord. He's already got a family. And they were here first. And they are always gonna come first with Cord. I'm tellin' you, Blair...you gotta do this by yourself.
Blair: You have got a lot of nerve! If there's anyone that I expect to understand why I would want my child to be raised in a strong, loving home complete with two parents, it would be you, Todd!
Todd: Fine. Do it with Cord.
Blair: But you're right, you know. And those things -- I am worried about exactly what you said --
Blair is interrupted by the sound of Cassie's voice calling her name from the building hallway. Todd and Blair turn to look as Cassie comes through the door; she's about to speak to Blair when she breaks off in surprise upon seeing that Todd is there with her.
Cassie: Todd.
Todd: See you later, Blair.
Blair: Todd, you don't have to go. You can stay.
But Todd ignores her and leaves the room.
Cassie: Blair, what's going on with you two?
--end scene--
Blair: It doesn't matter! He's my friend, okay?
Blair is so defensive that Cassie is stunned in to not pursuing the matter any further. She awkwardly tries to change the subject.
Cassie: Okay, uh -- so, what are you doing here so late, huh? I mean, I know that you like coming here, but it's cold. You all right?
Blair: I'm just peachy. So what are you doing here? Are you all right?
Cassie: Uh, I just spoke to Clint.
Blair knows what that means.
Blair: Cord called, huh?
Cassie: Yes.
Blair: Huh.
Cassie: He's on his way back from Madrid, with Tina --
Blair: (laughing bitterly) Oh, great!
Cassie: -- and kids. David Vickers is in Madrid, and that's exactly where Mother went.
Blair: Did -- did they find Dorian?
Cassie: No. No, but she's obviously in Madrid, she's obviously with David Vickers, and, obviously, she's avoiding prosecution here.
Blair: Oh, come on, Cassie, you don't know that for sure! Maybe she's gone off for another reason! I mean, people -- you can't figure people out these days. I mean, look at Cord and Tina.
Cassie: Come on, I thought we talked about that. Just because they're on the same flight back, that doesn't mean that they're together again!
Blair: Oh, just because he goes all the way across the Atlantic Ocean to save Tina from one little disaster!
Cassie: Blair, he went there to get his kids!
Blair: Oh, right!
Cassie: And to find David Vickers! Come on! I've seen you two together -- you really have a good relationship!
Blair: We had one. Now all that's left are skid marks.
Cassie: No, I think you're wrong! You two have a future!
Blair: You know what, Cassie, don't, all right? The only future for me is right here, in these offices!
Neither woman says anything for a moment as they glance around the unfinished building. Blair, calmer now, takes the opportunity to diffuse the tension.
Blair: Except, I guess we could use a -- a little new heating system.
Cassie: Yeah.
Blair: I mean, it, Cassie, this -- this is my future. It's the only thing that I can walk in, be in, see. And it's mine. Cord is no longer in the picture, and I'm gonna take charge. And since I am in charge, the only thing and the only person in my future is me.
Cassie: I'm sorry you feel that way.
Blair: Look, Cassie, you've got great friends, you've got a great family that would be there for you, they would -- they would lay down their lives for you! I don't have anything!
Cassie: Yes, you do, Blair! You've got a great deal more than you realize!
Blair: Well, I can't afford to believe that right now. And with Dorian gone, I guess -- I guess we both have lost a lot.
Cassie: Yeah, yeah, I guess.
Cassie turns from Blair to look out over Llanview. Then, she suddenly realizes that she has her opening to return to her earlier concern.
Cassie: Blair, I hope that Todd isn't part of this future you're planning. Whatever you think of him -- whatever the kind of relationship you two have -- he's dangerous. If you really want to avoid a horrible future, stay away from Todd.
--end scene--
Cassie: Listen, you and Todd seeing each other so much --
Blair: Hey, hey, wait -- wait a minute. Let's just cut this Todd-Blair convo right now, okay? And, as a matter of fact, let's cut the Blair-Cord convo, okay? Besides, you -- you're very upset about your mother right now.
Cassie: You know what I'm thinkin' of doing?
Blair: What?
Cassie: I'm thinking of going to Spain and finding her myself.
Blair: What?? Cassie, Spain is -- is a big place! I guess if she were lost in Pennsylvania, you would just jump in your car and go hunting for her?
Cassie: Yes!
Blair: That's ridiculous!
Cassie: Blair, I was a private investigator! You know, she has to use her passport to check into a hotel!
Blair: So --
Cassie: There's got to be a way to track her down!
Blair: Let Interpol do that, all right? Okay, say you get lucky and you do find her. They're going to put a tail on you!
Blair waits as Cassie takes this in and realizes that Blair has a point.
Cassie: Yeah. Yep. And I would lead them right to her.
Blair: So what we've gotta do, Cassie, we have to be patient here and wait for Dorian to contact us. If she calls me, I will call you. If she calls you, you call me, okay?
Cassie: Okay.
They stay quiet for a moment.
Cassie: God, I can't believe this is happening.
Blair: But it is.
Cassie: What if we never hear from her again? What if we do, and it's all true, and she can never come back? What if I never see my mother again?
