Thumbs Down! A Bitter End (Soap Opera Digest 4/5/05)

After months of watching Todd suffer under Margaret's creepy, rapist hand, we were hoping for a climax that would provide a much-needed, emotional release. Unfortunately, in addition to crushing the car that presumably imprisoned Blair, the wrecking yard scene crushed our spirits because of its frustrating sense of detachment. The scene lacked the sense of urgency one would expect, given the situation. Instead of frantic, edge-of-your-seat suspense, we were torturously forced to watch Todd limp around the yard all episode in search of the compactor. Meanwhile, Bo was seemingly more concerned with keeping Todd at his side than finding Blair. Worst of all, no one ever just hopped in a car and sped around the lot until they found her. Todd even wasted precious moments by radioing comforting words to Blair, who he knew probably couldn't even hear him. Trevor St. John came close to saving the scene with a nice performance when Todd collapsed at the crusher, realizing that he arrived too late. Close, but certainly no cigar.
