Asa Gets Duped! (Soaps In Depth 8/31/04)

Though One Life to Live's Asa claims that he faked his recent memory lapses to evade gun-possession charges, he was just a little too convincing. With his mansion as their goal, Todd and Blair use the coot's questionable mental fortitude to set a trap for him. And this week, the conniving couple feast on Asa's weaknesses with a string of schemes that may make them the king and queen of Asa's castle...or put them in the dog house!

The Mannings "Hound" Asa!
Reverting to their highschool days, the pair pulls a prank on the Buchanan patriarch. "There is a phone call made," says Kassie DePaiva (Blair) coyly. Using howls and barks, Todd and Blair make Asa look nutty as he believes a wild dog is stalking his property.

Unfortunately for Asa, the prank goes a little too far, and he winds up in the ER! "He's in the hospital because Todd has sent an animal trainer to scare him off by saying there's a rabid dog, and he gets hurt," DePaiva explains.

Thrilled that their plan worked, Todd and Blair celebrate in the sack. But the party doesn't last too long because there's still much work to be done if they are going to call Asa's mansion home. Turning his attention from animals to animal lust, Todd plans to use Duke's attraction to Blair to their advantage. And that doesn't nessecarily disappoint Blair. "Duke is a handsome young man," says a beaming DePaiva.

No Tresspassing!
With Asa in the hospital and Blair the rightful owner of Asa's land, Todd wants to move into the mansion right away. But Asa still may have a trick or two up his sleeve. Evangeline informs the couple that Asa can still make a legal claim on the property. Naturally, Todd doesn't let something as trivial as the law stand in his way!

While searching for a way to defeat Asa, the couple waste no time setting up shop on what they consider to be their new homestead. DePaiva won't reveal whether Todd and Blair will win the struggle for the mansion, but she will say, "They're gonna laugh trying! It'll be entertaining."
