What's Next for Todd and Blair (Soaps In Depth 4/27/04)

Todd may have been cleared of rape charges, and Blair may be having second thoughts about what happened on New Year's Eve, but does that mean a reconciliation is close at hand? Don't count on it just yet, says co-headwriter Michael Malone. "Blair still feels raped and violated by their whole history together," says the scribe. "And what she really has to face is that she still loves him. That's the thing she doesn't want to admit to herself. Trying to distract herself with Kevin hasn't worked, and trying to say 'I don't have feelings for you anymore, Todd' isn't true, so what does she do with that?" Despite the roadblocks up ahead, Malone says that their love affair is far from over. "This is an incredibly complex relationship between two very wounded people who can't seem to connect rationally very well," he concludes, "but who can come together in combustible ways that hurt each other. Yet they can't seem to stay apart."
