T&B Have A Heart-to-Heart In The Park

Todd is in the park waiting for a secret meeting with Starr when he comes across RJ and Cristian having a secret meeting of their own.

RJ: Get lost, Manning. This is a private conversation.
Todd: Secret meetings, secret places...what's going on here, guys?
Cristian: (glaring at RJ) Nothing.

Cristian starts to leave.

RJ: Look, hold on, Vega. Let me buy you a drink so we can finish our talk.
Cristian: Not interested.

Cristian leaves. RJ looks at Todd and sighs.

RJ: Well, did you follow me here?
Todd: (grinning) Wouldn't you like to know? Sorry to ruin your plans. What were you going to do? Lure him back to your place and play "hide the bomb in the lap" game?
RJ: No. No, that game was just for you.
Todd: (still grinning) Yeah. I shot you. And here we are, alive and well. I guess that makes us even.
RJ: Oh, no. No, no, no, no. We're a long way from even. But we'll get there. I promise you that.

--end scene--

Todd: Is this about Tea?
RJ: If you like.
Todd: I don't like. Not in the mood for a midnight stroll down memory lane.
RJ: What, are you thinking I'd just forgive and forget?
Todd: I don't think of you at all, RJ. And, for the last time, I didn't do anything to Tea.

Todd walked right into that one.

RJ: Well, that's true enough. I mean, she told me about your problem. What did she call it? "Intimacy." (chuckling) You can imagine what I call it, right? But hey, I understand. It happens all the time. I mean, you know, just because you couldn't actually do the deed doesn't make you less of a man. I mean, I'm sure Tea was incredibly understanding, even if she never was satisfied. I mean, how could she be? I mean, when we were making love, it was like we were hungry --

Todd loses his temper.

Todd: All right, you shut up! You shut up right now, RJ, or so help me, I will kill you!

--end scene--

RJ is downright gleeful at the thought of moving Todd to violence.

RJ: Well, come on, Manning! Let's see what you got! Can you land a good punch, huh? No, you might hurt your knuckles, so you should stab me! Do you have a knife? Come on! Do you have a gun?
Todd: Shut up!
RJ: Come on, you should hit me! It'll make you feel better. If you can't make love, make war!
Todd: I'm warning you, RJ....
RJ: I really think it would help. It would make you feel less...impotent.

Todd suddenly shoves RJ up against the wall and prepares to punch him. But just before he can, both men can hear Blair's voice calling Todd's name from elsewhere in the park. Todd reluctantly lowers his fist and RJ smirks.

RJ: Yeah, just like she said -- impotent.

With that, RJ saunters off unscathed. Blair comes running over to a furious Todd. She's upset because she's just found out that Starr has been having secret meetings with Todd.

Blair: There you are. Who the hell do you think you are??

Todd turns to glare at her.

--end scene--

Todd backs away from Blair.

Todd: No. Not now and not here, Blair.

But Blair refuses to let him leave.

Blair: Oh yeah, oh yeah, you know what? You should have thought of that before you decided to meet our daughter here in the park in the middle of the night! Are you crazy??
Todd: She is my daughter! She knows how to take care of herself!
Blair: She is just a little girl!
Todd: Yeah, well, she's old enough to know what she wants, and if she says she wants to see me, then she will see me! You got to live with that!
Blair: You live with this -- don't you put our daughter in danger, you got that? And you stop using her!
Todd: Use her?? I don't see her enough to use her!
Blair: Oh, come on, Todd! You got this little secret game! I know about it! Tell me what it is!
Todd: Oh, this coming from you, Mommy Dearest! You've gotta be kidding me!
Blair: Don't you -- don't you involve our little girl in your sick, secret little games, you got that! Or you will live to regret it! And I want you to tell me what you're doing with her! What did you ask her to do??
Todd: I told her to dismember you in your sleep.

Todd tries to leave, but Blair grabs his jacket and pulls him back.

Blair: I mean it, Todd! Tell me the truth, right now! I'm her mother, please!
Todd: Yeah, well, I'm her father, and if I want to have a secret with her, then I will!
Blair: What are you doing, Todd? Do you want to turn her into a Todd clone, is that it? Well, I'll tell you this right now, my friend. That will never, ever happen! Ever!

Blair starts to leave until Todd speaks again and stops her in her tracks.

Todd: It's too late Blair. It's already happened. We're like this. (he crosses his fingers tightly)
Blair: Todd, what do you want to do? Turn her into a lonely, vindictive loser like you?
Todd: Better than being a pathetic, clinging ex-wife like you.

Blair hauls off and slaps him. They glare at each other for a second before Blair stalks off toward the park bench to try to compose herself. Todd follows after her and watches her for a moment.

Todd: All right. What's got your knickers all twisted up?
Blair: Skye. Who yanked your chain?
Todd: RJ. RJ Gannon.

--end scene--

Blair: Something about Tea? Oh, come on Todd, you're so better off without her. All she ever wanted was your money, anyway.
Todd: Yeah, well the first time maybe.
Blair: Oh, come on. There was never an honest bone in her whole body. Why don't you just think about it.

Blair sits down on the bench.

Blair: There's nothing worse than a phony -- than a desperate phony. Oh so pathetic just to watch them struggle and squirm, even after they know the game's over.
Todd: You're talking about Skye now, right?

Todd goes to sit next to Blair on the bench.

Todd: You should just forget her because she's not worth it. (pause) He's not worth it either, you know.

Blair looks at Todd in surprise.

Todd: You don't belong with Max.
Blair: (defensively) Oh excuse me. This coming from a man who totally self-destructed over Tea. Oh, well, at least Max isn't trying to change me.

Todd has no response to this.

Blair: Come on, Todd. Tea never wanted the real you.
Todd: Nobody does. Everybody's trying to change me Blair. Tea, Viki, Sam -- they're trying to re-design me. Everybody wants me to change. Everybody but you.

Todd looks at Blair meaningfully.

--end scene--

Todd: Sam, Viki, Tea -- now, they all want me to be somebody else. But you don't. Why is that?
Blair: Come on, Todd, you remember we fought for the title of "Most Pathetic." Now, if you changed then I would have to be Most Pathetic all by myself.
Todd: Yeah, well, I think I've already won that.
Blair: Only you would understand me trying to create a virus to destroy my husband and then changing my mind.
Todd: (helpfully) Well, I think you should change it again.

This comment seems to worry Blair a bit.

Blair: You did get rid of the virus, didn't you?
Todd: Yeah, I got rid of it, but I'm thinking you should put it back.
Blair: I wouldn't want to do that.

Blair jumps up from the bench and walks a few feet away.

Todd: Why not?
Blair: Because I love my husband and I want to save my marriage.
Todd: You really are pathetic.

--end scene--

Blair: What is the matter with you?
Todd: What's the matter with me? What's the matter with you??

Todd jumps up from the bench and walks toward her.

Todd: You sound like Kelly or Viki or one of those other bottle blondes!
Blair: Why, because I actually care about somehbbody other than myself? Because I'm committed to a man? I want to stand by him and trust him?
Todd: You're making me sick!
Blair: You are sick, Todd.
Todd: No, I am not sick!
Blair: Yes you are!

Todd walks to another part of the park and Blair follows him as he rants.

Todd: I'm the only sane person in this town of saps! I mean, you got Sam -- Viki! You should see the piece of meat she's shacked up with! I think they're all pathetic!
Blair: Why, because they actually care about somebody than themselves?
Todd: No, because they're stupid enough to think that people actually care about them!
Blair: You only care about yourself!
Todd: What, are you going to try and change me now, too?
Blair: No. No, I -- I want you to help me.
Todd: (with amused realization) Oh. Here's why you're here.

Todd sighs and sinks back on the bench.

Todd: All right, well, what is it that you need?
Blair: See, Todd, I --

She sits down next to him.

Blair: I started this company. It was a company to help destroy Asa and -- and Max. It's a company that buys the companies that they want and I just can't let Max find out about it.

Todd gets up and walks off. Blair jumps to her feet and chases after him.

Blair: Wait, Todd! Come on, please, you have to help me, all right? Because Skye's going to find out that I'm behind it and she's going to tell Max and then I'm going to lose everything! Will you help me or not??
Todd: Well, what is it I'm supposed to do?
Blair: Well, you just -- all you have to do is really just buy the company and just erase any connection to me, that's all.
Todd: (incredulous) You want me to buy it??
Blair: Dirt cheap.
Todd: I buy it, then I hide it. Right? And this is an acquisition company, right? Designed to hurt Max and Asa?
Blair: Yes -- no, no, wait. Asa, yes; Max, no. Absolutely not.
Todd: But I do get to hurt Asa?
Blair: (shrugs)
Todd: Well, okay.
Blair: You'll -- you'll do it?? Thank you so much -- so much, Todd! (she puts her hands on his arms and squeezes them affectionately) Really, I mean that!

Todd regards Blair with a strange look on his face. The mood turns a bit awkward.

Blair: Well, I'm going to -- Max is probably waiting for me, so I'm going to go.
Todd: No. You're coming with me.

Blair watches, stunned, as Todd walks away as if he expects her to follow. But what choice does she have? She goes after him and they leave the park.
