Todd Tells Blair That He Wants His Inheritance

The morning after Todd's drunken night out at the bar, Todd is gazing out the living room window of the penthouse, remembering the moment Tina told him that he was Victor Lord's son. After the flashback, Todd goes to the couch, sits on the ground next to it (rather than on the couch itself), and takes a sip of his coffee.

Blair, in a pink robe, comes out of the bedroom and approaches Todd.

Blair: I didn't even notice when you got up. Actually, I didn't even notice that you came to bed last night. You did come to bed, didn't you?
Todd: No. I've just been trying to sort out this whole thing with Victor Lord. I don't want to be any part of that stupid Lord family any more than I want to be a part of my own family.
Blair: I'm really sorry to see you so upset.

Blair sits down on the couch.

Blair: Is -- is there anything that I can do?
Todd: No. You've already done enough. You did plenty last night. You helped me a lot.
Blair: You were so shook up. I was glad that I was there. So, um, what are you going to do, "Mr. Lord"?
Todd: Please. (pause) I've made a decision.
Blair: You did? About?
Todd: About what to do with the old man's money.

Todd: I don't want anything to do with the whole Lord family. I mean, Viki -- I can't figure her out. She's different every single time that I talk to her. Kevin, Joey, Tina the ditz. I mean, they hate me as much as I hate them. It doesn't matter that we're related now.
Blair: Come on, Todd. Don't spite them to -- to spite yourself.
Todd: Did I say I was going to do that?
Blair: No.
Todd: I'm gonna take this money. Not for me. For our kid. This is the one shot that I have to give this kid something to start his life out with.

Blair, looking relieved, quickly brings up Melador.

Blair: You know, Todd, I was hoping that Melador would be a good foundation for our baby, too --
Todd: I'm not talking about that. No, no, this is from me. This is the one thing that I can do for this kid. Lord knows I don't have any genes that I want to pass on. This is the least that I can do.
Blair: No, Todd -- our baby is going to be so lucky to have you.
Todd: Whatever. Look, I just feel that this is the one shot that I have at being a decent father. And I'm not gonna blow it.

--end scene--

Blair: You know, you -- you really had me scared last night.

Todd stands up and goes toward the fireplace.

Todd: I'm sorry. I, um -- I was really drunk. Sorry if I said anything that --
Blair: Oh, no, no, Todd, it's just that -- you were -- so sad, and I thought that I had lost you for good, and -- you were drunk and you shut me out, and I was -- I was hurt, that's all.
Todd: Look, I'm sorry if I upset you. Look, everything in my life is all --

Todd walks back toward Blair and sits down on the couch next to her.

Todd: Everything's a lie. And in the middle of all these lies, there's you. You and this baby. You're the only thing that is keeping me from going completely nuts. With you, I always know what's going on. I always know the truth.

Of course, Blair looks extremely guilty here, but she tries to hide it.

Blair: So, um, what do you do now?
Todd: I have no idea. I mean, even if I decide... (he trails off before continuing) I'm going to take this old geezer's money...I just have no idea how I'm going to do it.
Blair: What about that key that -- that your father left you before he died?
Todd: No way of finding out what that key is for.
Blair: Come on, Todd, it's gotta be to something. A safe deposit box? You just gotta find out what box -- that's all.
Todd: You seem to think that that's gonna be easy.

--end scene--

When the scene returns, Todd is pacing the room while he drinks his coffee.

Todd: I have no idea where to start with this key, and it's not like Viki's family's going to be any help.
Blair: There was nothing in your father's -- I mean, Peter's will? His papers, nothing like that?
Todd: I'm not a dunce. I checked that already. I don't know, man -- I can't ask Viki. I can't ask Kevin. David Vickers isn't speaking with me, not that there's any surprise there.
Blair: Uh, yeah, I guess since you exposed his little scam.
Todd: And Tina...

Todd suddenly seems to remember something.

Todd: Blair?
Blair: Yeah?
Todd: Look, I --

Todd sits back down on the couch next to her.

Todd: I was pretty ripped last night, but didn't you say something about Tina coming by here all bent out of shape? And she said something about an inheritance?

Blair did tell Todd about Tina's visit, but now she's realized that if Todd goes to see Tina, Tina will eagerly plant suspicions in Todd's head about Blair's "pregnancy."

Blair: Um, well, yeah, Tina did stop by here, and she was really hysterical -- she didn't really even make any sense. I -- you might as well just forget about Tina.
Todd: No, I don't want to forget about it. Think about it for a second. I mean, did she say anything? Did she let anything slip that might be important?
Blair: Um...
Todd: Well, then why did she come by here at all?

--end scene--

Blair: You know, Tina -- she was in such a state last night. I barely remember anything that she even said. She just kept going on and on and on and on about David Vickers. And -- well, basically, Todd, she was just saying that everything was your fault.
Todd: No surprise there. She must be sick to death over the fact that I'm her brother. I mean, at least Viki, she can -- she can make the excuse that we have different mothers. But Tina and I are peas of the same pod. There's a revolting concept. My sister is a complete airhead, a total space cadet.
Blair: I'm -- I'm just sorry that I'm not much help. I don't think anything that Tina said is gonna be that helpful.
Todd: You want to know what kind of man big daddy was? Let me tell you something -- he was boinking Irene Manning, my sainted mother, while she was Viki's roommate at college. She was a teenager, and he was this saggy old man. My old man was putting it to somebody Viki's same age, Viki's roommate, Viki's best friend. I mean, how sick is this?
Blair: So now you're saying that Peter Manning is a good guy?
Todd: No, Peter was a jerk. But Victor Lord was a total pervert. To tell the truth, I'm glad I never met the man.
Blair: But he was your father, Todd.
Todd: Which is why I'm gonna take this money. And I just hope that it's enough to justify this miserable life that he left me to lead. I mean, all of this is assuming that I can -- I can actually get my hands on the cash. I mean, does it matter if he left me a million dollars if I don't know how to find it?
Blair: You know, I just realized that, um, I might know someone that could help you.

The scene ends here, but later, Todd pays a visit to Nora's office, so it's safe to assume that Blair sent him there.

--end scene--

When the scene returns, Todd has left, and Blair is alone in the penthouse. She dumps out the contents of her purse and finds a picture of Cord. She sadly looks at the photo, kisses it, and then rips it up and throws the pieces into the roaring fire in the fireplace.
