T&B Have an Encounter at the Palace Hotel.

Blair is in the Palace dining room, sitting alone at a table and on the phone ordering a display of flowers to be sent to Viki Carpenter, who is mourning the death of her husband, Sloan. She is surprised when Todd (looking all dressed up in a suit for his date with Sam Vance) approaches her.

Todd: All alone at the Palace Hotel? Let me guess, Cord finally wised up and dumped you, huh?
Blair: (fake laughing) So very funny, Todd. What are you doing here?
Todd: Sooner or later, Cord's going to see your true colors. He'll dump you. Nobody changes that much, Blair. I mean, you can change the clothes, but you can't change the person on the inside.
Blair: Yeah, I noticed. Nice suit. Is there an occasion?
Todd: Could be. I've got a date.

Blair looks ever so slightly jealous.

When the scene returns, Blair has given Todd the birthday gift she promised him -- a new chain to replace the old one that had the key Peter gave him on it.

Blair: Happy belated birthday. I made it. It's for that chain that you were wearing around your neck, on that old --
Todd: I threw it out. The key and the chain.
Blair: But Todd, I thought that was from -- well, Peter Manning, I thought that was your only connection to who your real parents were.
Todd: (angrily) I don't care who my real parents are!

Then Todd seems to realize that he was too harsh, so he calms down a bit.

Todd: Look, thanks for the chain, it's really nice.
Blair: You're welcome. So, um, I guess you need to go find your date, don't you?
Todd: What, you trying to get rid of me? Is Mr. Wonderful coming?
Blair: No, Mr. Wonderful is not coming, but his kids are, and I really don't want you to be here when --
Todd: Oh, come on. You'd score big points with CJ and Sarah if they think we're friends.
Blair: Todd --

Suddenly CJ and Sarah come into the room and they immediately zero in on Todd.

CJ: Hey, look, Sarah, there's Todd!
Sarah: Hey Todd!

They run over to him.

Todd: Hey guys, Happy New Year, how you doing? (to Blair) See? What'd I tell you?

Then, Tina enters the room and it becomes clear what Blair was trying to warn Todd about earlier.

Tina: (calling to the kids) All right, kids, wait --
Blair: (to Todd) THEY are not the problem.

Tina comes over to the table and she doesn't look too happy.

Sarah: Look Mommy, who's here!
CJ: Come on, Mom, let's sit down!
Tina: No, honey, not here. Until your daddy gets here, we're DEFINITELY getting our own table.

--end scene--

CJ: But, Mom, why can't we all wait together?
Tina: CJ, I told you, I don't think so.
Blair: Why not, Tina?
Tina: All right, Blair, because I don't want my kids around you. (to Todd) Or you, a second longer than they have to be.

Blair is outraged.

Blair: Honestly, Tina, that is so rude!
Todd: Forget about it. I'm gonna leave you guys to this cat fight, okay? My date's here.
CJ and Sarah: Bye Todd, bye!
Todd: Bye, kids. I'll see you soon.
Tina: Goodbye, Todd.
Todd: (brushing past her) Excuse me.

Todd goes to meet up with Sam (who suggests they go somewhere else for their date) while Blair asks Tina to let her take the kids ice skating.
