Blair Meets Her Cousin Kelly for the First Time
It's the day of the Gold Star Gala, Llanview's biggest charity event of the year, and Renee Buchanan has just refused to sell Blair tickets for her and Todd. So Blair, not to be deterred, immediately runs over to Cassie's house to see if Cassie has any spare tickets. She is surprised, however, when the door opens to reveal a sullen-looking blond teenager. It's her cousin, Kelly, whom she has yet to meet.
Blair: Oh!
Kelly: Get outta my way!
Blair: Don't tell me -- let me guess. You're my cousin Kelly! (giggling)
Kelly: Who are you?
Blair: (mimicking her) Well, who are you? It's nice to meet you, too!
Blair brushes past Kelly and goes into the house. Kelly looks perplexed, to say the least.

Cassie joins Blair and Kelly in the foyer.
Cassie: Say hi to your cousin Blair, Kelly.
Kelly: Oh. Hi.
Blair: Hey, Kelly! Well, I hope that I'm not interrupting anything too, um, thrilling. But I just came by because I want to know if you had extra tickets to the charity ball tonight -- please!
Cassie: (looking pointedly at Kelly) Well, there may be one...
Blair: Oh, great!
Cassie: That is, unless Kelly does something about her truant tendencies. She's missed a great deal of school lately.
Blair, seeing that she's apparently interrupted an argument between her two cousins, quickly tries to change the subject.
Blair: So, Kelly, let me get a look at you. Oh, my gosh! You are so beautiful! (she touches Kelly's hair) You really do favor your mother, Melinda, you know.
Kelly: (softening slightly) Thanks. Too bad Cassie's trying to drive me nuts, too.
Blair: (quickly) And I tell you what, you -- I love the way you dress!
Kelly: (incredulous) You do?
Blair: Oh, yes. It really shows that you have very -- a great sense of style! Very original! And I'll tell you what -- very daring.
Kelly's tough-girl exterior shatters in the face of Blair's glowing praise. She grabs Blair and hugs her.
Kelly: My God! Finally someone of legal age who understands me! (suddenly remembering something) Hey!
Blair: What?
Kelly: I heard you have a cosmetic company. Do you do clothes?
Blair: Well, not yet, but someday, hopefully, yes.
Kelly: Well, I -- I could work with you! I could quit school and be your signature model!
Cassie: (interrupting from her seat on the stairs) Excuse me! Don't even think about it!
Blair: (laughing) Wait a minute, I don't quite need a signature model yet, but there may be a job opening for you someday soon.
Blair reaches out and grabs Cassie and pulls her over to them.
Blair: That is, if you do as your dear cousin here says and get your fanny back in school, girl!
Kelly: Well, at least I'll have something to look forward to while I endure my imprisonment in the Village of the Damned.
Blair: (laughing)
Kelly: It's not funny!
Blair: Kelly, please, believe me, I know, okay. We will talk. Later. (heading out the door) But I have got to get going because I have got to scrounge and get a couple of tickets for Todd and me for the charity ball tonight!
Cassie: Can't you just buy them?
Blair: No, it is invitation-only.
Cassie: But why would you want to subject yourself to this thing tonight?
Blair: Cassie, if Todd and I are gonna to make our mark on this town, tonight is the best time. See ya'. (waving to Kelly) Bye, Kelly!
With that, Blair is out the door. Cassie looks flustered, but Kelly looks thrilled by the whole thing.
