Todd and Cord Have an Encounter at Rodi's

After leaving Blair's penthouse (where they slept together for the first time), Todd wanders over to Rodi's just in time to hear Cord on the phone there, talking to Blair. Cord makes plans to meet Blair later. Todd eavesdrops on the conversation. After Cord hangs up, Todd approaches him.

Todd: Hey, Cord, can I talk to you for a second?
Cord: I'm sorry, Todd, I'm in a hurry.
Todd: Yeah, I know, but before you run off to see Blair, I need to talk to you for one minute.

Cord: So what is this, Todd, you got nothing better to do than sit around and listen to phone conversations?
Todd: I'm sorry, it's just that when I heard you mention Blair's name, I knew you'd be heading right out the door and I need to talk to you first.
Cord: About what?
Todd: I'm looking for a job. I mean, I checked the want ads, but things are pretty dry, you know, and I wondered if you knew anything?
Cord: What happened to your job over at the hospital?
Todd: They took that away from me when, you know, everybody started freaking out about all the rapes there.
Cord: Why? I thought you were cleared on all those?
Todd: Yeah, well, they don't want me around. You know what they say -- you can't go home. Man, is that an understatement. I went to Chicago. Some stupid lawyer read my father's will. My dad didn't even leave me plane fare back to Llanview. So now here I am, just trying to find a way to pay the rent.
Cord: Well, I'm sorry to hear about your father.
Todd: Thanks. Yeah, but life happens. So look, if you hear about it... (trailing off and suddenly changing his mind) Who am I kidding, look, you've already done enough favors for me. Just skip it. Do me a favor and say hi to CJ and Sarah for me.
Cord: Yeah, will do. Listen, Todd, I'll keep my ear open for that job.

Cord goes to leave. Todd has a sudden inspiration.

Todd: Hey, uh, Cord --
Cord: Yeah?
Todd: When you see Blair... (he smiles to himself) Tell her Merry Christmas for me.
Cord: (nodding) Will do.

Cord leaves the bar. Todd glares after him as he goes.
