Blair Tells Todd That They Can't See Each Other Again
Todd and Blair are sitting down together at the country club bar. She's
there waiting for Cord, but he's late.
Blair: And how was your Christmas?
Todd: Great. A motel is the perfect place to spend the holidays. How was caroling with CJ and Sarah and uh -- what's his name?
Blair: It was fun. And, uh, old "what's his name" is gonna meet me here.
Todd: I'm starting to worry about you, Blair.
Blair: Why?
Todd: Look, maybe it's none of my business, but I don't want to be left in the dust when Cord finally decides to blow you off.
Blair: Why would he do that?
Todd: It's a completely different world where he's at, it's all milk and cookies and family stuff.
Blair: So? What's wrong with that?
Todd: Nothing. Except Cord's never going to leave that world. And you're just like me, Blair. You don't fit in there. Never will.

Blair: Cord's world is not that different. Well, family is important to me, too.
Todd: (smirking) Mama Daimler, huh? Pleased to meet you.
Blair: Ha ha ha. Get that smirk off your face.
Todd: When's your Cub Scout den meeting? This month? Next month?
Blair: Okay, okay, so I've made a few mistakes. But that doesn't mean that I can't build a good life with someone and their kids.
Todd gives her a look.
Blair: Ha ha ha. Well I can fit in, Todd! I went caroling with Cord and his children, and they didn't get weird because I was there.
Todd: Fine. Go for it.
Blair: All right, you want to say something, just say it. What?
Todd: I really cared about Rebecca. And where is she now? Texas. You don't always get what you want, Blair.
Blair: Sometimes you do.
Todd: (chuckling) I wouldn't hold my breath.
Blair: Well, I'm gonna get what I want. (she does a double-take) I know. You don't think I'm good enough, do you?
Todd: Neither one of us is good, Blair. Nevermind good enough. And if Cord really does decide to bring you into his princely mansion, do you really think you belong there?

Blair: Why do you care that I'm seeing Cord, anyway?
Todd: Look, you see all my pals hanging around here? You're like the only friend I got. I don't want to see you play doormat.
Blair: I won't.
Blair suddenly realizes that now's a good time to talk to Todd about something that's been on her mind.
Blair: Todd, look, there's something that -- well, you need to know. Since -- since we had our little Christmas good time, uh, some things changed.
Todd: Like what?
Blair: Well, like you and me seeing each other. Look, no calls, no coming around, no nothing, okay? I've got a shot at something really good and I don't want anything to screw that up, all right?
Todd glares at Blair.

Todd jumps out of his chair, suddenly furious.
Todd: You're just like everybody else! Don't be seen with Todd Manning, huh? Hell -- oh, my God, you actually slept with the guy! Make sure nobody finds out!
Blair: Oh, Todd --
Todd: You're probably saying that I forced myself on you, right, like it had to be rape!
Blair: Would you just calm down?
Todd: (hotly) Damnit, you liked it!
Blair: I am not saying that -- it just shouldn't have happened, that's all.
Todd: "Shouldn't have happened."
Blair: No, it shouldn't. Todd, I have got a shot at something really good, and I'm going to make it work and I'm not going to let you or anyone get in the way of that, all right?
A waiter approaches Blair.
Waiter: Miss Daimler, you have a phone call.
Todd: Go ahead, Blair, take it. It's probably Cord. Have yourself a laugh.
Blair: Todd, look, I'm sorry.
Todd: (quietly) Take a hike.
Blair makes a noise of frustration and then storms off. Todd, left alone at the bar, sullenly asks the bartender for a phone and then calls to inquire about the possibility of finding a job there at the club.
